Best-selling sofware manuals

Two of the best selling books in 2014 were software manuals. For a video game. I don't mean that they were the bestsellers compared to other manuals. They are solidly among the top twenty of all books published in 2014. An amazing accomplishment.

I do play video games, but I'm more of an old school kind of guy, so I've never tried Minecraft. These two books? They're user guides for Minecraft. Minecraft apparently has the right mix of elements to really engage with users, including a lack of built-in documentation. It's not a hinderance, it's a feature. Robin Sloan's The Secret of Minecraft spells it all out.
