Inventing names for documentation

The minutiae of technical writing is sometimes surprising to the uninitiated. One example is how often we need fake names to use in documentation, often in screen shots or sample data. Once a writer has exhausted their list of childhood friends, pets, and pun-inspired examples, where does one turn for inspiration? Try The Blood-Red Pencil: Naming Your Characters for help. Although it's focused on fiction, you'll enjoy the piece. Thanks to Grammar Girl for the link.
