Additional developments in fourth-party publications

Adam Engst, writing for TidBITS magazine, describes the economics of computer book publishing, his experiences with selling an electronic-format version of a published book, and a new project called 10 Quick Steps. This new effort uses BitPass for micro-payment processing and offers short technical guides in PDF and breaks new ground by also selling audio-book (MP3) versions of all the publications.

Also new to the micro-publishing market is a book by Dr. Smoke, Troubleshooting Mac OS X. Building on his experience as a "Discussion Helper" at the Apple Support forums, the PDF book covers a wide range of topics with troubleshooting advice and opinion.
